After I created my Hello Kitty pattern, I knew I wanted to create more Sanrio characters. If you don’t know what Sanrio is, it is a Japanese company that produces merchandise based on characters they create. It focuses on everything “kawaii” which means cute in Japanese. My Melody is one of these cute characters. She is a white rabbit with a pink hood and is Hello Kitty’s best friend. If you don’t know her back story, she wears a hood to portray her own version of Little Red Riding Hood. For everyone who created Hello Kitty from my pattern, I hope you give her cute rabbit best friend a go! This plush is Valentine’s Day themed with her colors and holding a heart but feel free to use any colors you would like.
For this pattern, I used Premier Parfait Chunky yarn (which is my favorite yarn) for a soft pastel look. Click here to get Premier yarn for this project. If you enjoy this pattern, please give me a follow on social media and let me know what other free patterns you would love to see! Also, don’t forget to tag me in your creations on instagram. Happy crocheting 🙂

MATERIALS & TOOLS
- Yarn: Premier Parfait Chunky (Size 6, Super Bulky) in white, pink (pink lemonade), purple (lilac) & yellow
- Crochet hook (Size 6.0 mm)
- Polyfil – fiberfill stuffing
- Felt for face details (black & yellow)
- Fabric glue
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Stitch marker
- Sewing pins
ABBREVIATIONS
- CH – chain
- SC – single crochet
- INC – single crochet increase (2 SC in each stitch)
- DEC – decrease (I use the invisible decrease in all of my creations for a cleaner look)
- HDC – half double crochet
- DC – double crochet
- SLST – slip stitch
- FO – fasten off
- Magic ring (MR) – Make a loop, leaving a long tail to work with. Insert the hook in the center of the loop, yarn over, and draw up a loop. Yarn over, and pull through to make the first chain (this does not count as a stitch). Continue to crochet over the loop and tail with the number of stitches called for. There are many excellent YouTube videos on how to make a magic circle if you are a visual learner! Always move your stitch marker to the last stitch in the round.
THIS PATTERN IS WORKED IN CONTINUOUS ROUNDS.
