Mini Succulent Planter – Free Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

Succulents are definitely a popular trend, mostly because they are so easy to take care of. As someone who used to work at a botanic garden, the desert room filled with succulents and cacti was my favorite to visit. These unique plants are quite versatile and the crochet version is even better because it never dies! This pattern is one of my favorite beginner amigurumi creations. Also, the small size of this succulent makes it perfect for a keychain or little decor for your work desk.

Succulent Materials & Abbreviations

You will need:

Three different colored yarn size medium

-Light brown (for planter)

-Dark Brown (for dirt)

-Green (for plant)

I used Loops & Threads brand yarn, medium which I bought at Michael’s craft store. Feel free to differentiate the colors as your creativity sees fit!

Crochet Hook in Size 4.0mm or 3.5mm

Tapestry Needle

Polyfil

6-10 mm safety eyes (your choice in size based on preference)

Stiff black felt & fabric glue (I used Fabri-Tac)

Stitch marker

HDC – half double crochet

DEC- decrease (or 2tog) (put hook through the front loop of two consecutive stitches [two loops on hook] Yarn over pull through both loops. [two loops on hook] Yarn over pull through two loops)

MC (Magic Circle)– Make a loop, leaving a long tail to work with. Insert hook in center of loop, yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over, pull through to make the first chain (this does not count as a stitch). Continue to crochet over the loop and tail with the number of stitches called for. There are many wonderful YouTube videos on how to make a magic circle if you are a visual learner!

BLO – crochet in the back loops only

Always move your stitch marker to the last stitch in the round. This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Each number before the text counts for a round.
