Happy Holidays! One of my favorite movies to watch every December is How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the 1966 version). I have the best memories of singing along to “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” while sipping on hot chocolate with my family. Even now as an adult, it is the first Christmas movie that I watch with my husband every year. As usual with all things nostalgia, I have to make a cute crochet plush. I couldn’t wait to create this Grinch plush and share it as a free pattern with all of you! I hope you love making your own grumpy little Grinch and can share it with your loved ones this holiday season. I also created a Youtube tutorial for this plush if you are more of a visual learner.
For this pattern, I used Premier Parfait Chunky yarn (which is my favorite yarn) for a soft pastel look. Click here to get Premier yarn for this project. MATERIALS & TOOLS
- Yarn: Premier Parfait Chunky (Size 6, Super Bulky) in green, red & white
- Crochet hook (Size 6.0 mm)
- Polyfil – fiberfill stuffing
- Felt for face details (black, green & yellow)
- Black medium yarn for the mouth
- Fabric glue
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Stitch marker
- Sewing pins
ABBREVIATIONS
- CH – chain
- SC – single crochet
- INC – single crochet increase (2 SC in each stitch)
- DEC – decrease (I use the invisible decrease in all of my creations for a cleaner look)
- FO – fasten off
- Magic ring – Make a loop, leaving a long tail to work with. Insert the hook in the center of the loop, yarn over, and draw up a loop. Yarn over, and pull through to make the first chain (this does not count as a stitch). Continue to crochet over the loop and tail with the number of stitches called for. There are many excellent YouTube videos on how to make a magic circle if you are a visual learner! Always move your stitch marker to the last stitch in the round.
