For me, Winnie the Pooh is a comfort character that always makes me smile. Growing up, my childhood room was adorned with these furry friends from the Hundred Acre Woods. Pooh and friends danced along the wallpaper of my tiny room, inviting me to join them. My bedspread was a soft hug of clouds and my friendly yellow bear. Throughout the years I, of course, grew out my “childish” room decor and swapped my woodland friends for different themes as I got older (a full wall of Jonas Brothers posters at one point lol). Even though I was growing and moving into different stages in my life, I always knew I could watch or read Winnie the Pooh and be brought back to simpler times, playing in my childhood bedroom. So of course, when I took up crochet and amigurumi I knew I wanted to create my own Pooh plush. I hope that sharing this pattern brings you back to simpler times in life or brings joy to your loved ones as a gift. And as Pooh would say, “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
For this pattern, I used Premier Parfait Chunky yarn (which is my favorite yarn) for a soft pastel look. Click here to get Premier yarn for this project. MATERIALS & TOOLS
- Yarn: Premier Parfait Chunky (Size 6) in yellow & red
- Crochet hook (Size 6.0 mm)
- Polyfil – fiberfill stuffing
- 9mm safety eyes & a safety nose
- Black medium yarn for the mouth
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Stitch marker
- Sewing pins
ABBREVIATIONS
- CH – chain
- SC – single crochet
- INC – single crochet increase (2 SC in each stitch)
- DEC – decrease (I use the invisible decrease in all of my creations for a cleaner look)
- FO – fasten off
- Magic ring – Make a loop, leaving a long tail to work with. Insert hook in the center of loop, yarn over, and draw up a loop. Yarn over, pull through to make the first chain (this does not count as a stitch). Continue to crochet over the loop and tail with the number of stitches called for. There are many wonderful YouTube videos on how to make a magic circle if you are a visual learner! Always move your stitch marker to the last stitch in the round.
THIS PATTERN IS WORKED IN CONTINUOUS ROUNDS.
